our team
Founded in 2014, Minds Over Matter will deliver mindfulness training for people and institutions involved in education on the Delmarva Peninsula.
Our programs will reach students, teachers, families and community members. Through mindfulness education, we give children and adults a toolkit to achieve and sustain focus, inner calm and emotional resilience.

Dr. Krista Griffin
executive director
Dr. Griffin is a Chiropractor and the owner of Lotus Chiropractic in Lewes. Throughout her 18 year career, Dr. Griffin has focused on understanding and tapping into the mind-body connection. Her method of treatment relies heavily on the body’s inherent ability to heal itself, and Dr. Griffin guides her patients to access this power with hands-on work, through education and the principles of quantum physics. Her interest in mindfulness came through the realization that her own child didn't have the tools to be able to calm himself in stressful situations.
founding members

Karen Barwick
LPCMH, program director
Karen is a Licensed Professional Counselor of Mental Health and views her job description as “helping people find ease with the process of being human." To that end, mindfulness principles and practices have been a cornerstone of her personal and professional life for over a decade. Karen feels deep empathy for the challenges young people face and believes the “3 R’s” are no longer sufficiently adequate to help them pave a path towards their potential. She feels excited to help childern, and the adults who care about them, acquire the additional skills they may need to successfully meet those challenges with an increased sense of confidence and competence.
